Kelchner Brothers Store
NW Corner of Main and Richmond Streets
Built about 1867

The Kelchner Brothers Store was located on the NW corner of Main and Richmond Streets. Samuel Kelchner constructed the building in 1867 with the store on the first floor while the second and third floors were living quarters. Some years later in the same building, George Schlegel and and his brother Alfred carried on a hardware business in the same building. The man holding the child in the photograph is Sam Kelchner. The man on the wagon is Jacob Kelchner, Sam's brother and business partner. Jacob was the owner of the livery stable beyond the trees on the right side of the photograph. It was the old Daniel Focht Carriage Works.
