The southwest corner of Main and Franklin streets has played an important part in the history of Fleetwood. Today, the site is the location of the First National Bank in Fleetwood. However, many years ago a general merchandise store by the name of Kieffer and Mertz occupied the first floor of this building. The decorative plate comes from that store. The store was forced to move across the street in 1919 when the building was sold to the First National Bank in Fleetwood.
