SUMMARY: Joseph Pennock, the son of Mary Collett Pennock  and Christopher Pennock, was born 18 Nov 1677 in Killhouse, Clonmell, Tipperary, Ireland. In one of his passages to America, in a letter of Marque, he was captured by a French Ship of War, and confined in France as a prisoner of war for a year, and he endured much hardship. After the death of his father, Joseph came to America in 1702 to settle his father's Estate. He married Mary Lewis and engaged in a mercantile business. About 1714 he moved to West Marlborough, Chester, PA and settled on a large tract of land, of which he became proprietor by virtue of a Grant from William Penn, to George Collet his Grandfather. He there in 1738 erected a large mansion "Primitive Hall" which still stands today.  He died there in 1771. Primitive Hall is located near Cochranville and West Grove, Pa.
